Do you have an I-Hotel story? Is the I-Hotel and Manilatown alive in your heart? Perhaps you visited Manilatown as a child or were involved in the struggle for the I-Hotel. The Manilatown Heritage Foundation honors your stories and wants to keep them alive brick by brick, story by story. The stories of the I-Hotel are the heart of the I-Hotel struggle and the I-Hotel Nation. Manilatown’s Klick on a Brick storytelling project is a 6-session series of writing and storytelling workshops facilitated by I-Hotel resident poet Tony Robles. No writing experience is required. All you need to bring is your desire to share and preserve your I-Hotel/Manilatown story where it will be honored and shared on our I-Hotel virtual brick wall.
Our first quarter will start on Saturday, December 6th and will focus on stories inspired by your favorite I-Hotel T-Shirt. For decades our community has been wearing shirts that expressed our solidarity in defending the I-Hotel, re-building the I-Hotel and maintaining the I-Hotel legacy.
Oh, if those shirts could only talk – but maybe they can!
So come on over with that fave shirt whether or not you can still fit in it. This winter quarter we’re gonna Stretch the Shirt – but Not the Truth!
